BUTTERFLY GOO

BY RACHEL BURR

You think transformation is pretty? Think again. Just like the messy goo a caterpillar goes through to become a butterfly, human transformation is equally “gooey.”

With important lessons/chapter takeaways and experiential exercises for you to try, this book that’s part memoir and part self-help will make you think about where your life is working and where it isn’t. Maybe you’re stuck in comfortable discomfort or searching for something, but you don’t know what it is. Maybe you want to make a change, but you’re afraid you’ll fail. Worse, maybe you think you aren’t good enough, smart enough, or just not enough, so you feel stuck.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

RACHEL BURR

Rachel Burr is an executive coach, people expert, and undisputed head of the self-entertainment committee. Rachel loves coaching and for 20+ years has helped people unpack who they are at their core and step into the best version of themselves. Rachel is also passionate about the need to never take ourselves too seriously. She cannot imagine a world without humor and laughter, mostly because she would not be allowed to live there.

When Rachel isn’t writing, coaching, or spending time with her husband and/or cats, she enjoys musical theatre, travel+wine+food, learning languages, and telling people she owns a banjo, even though she hasn’t played it in ten years.

Ultimately, Rachel is driven by a strong sense of purpose. Her deepest desire is to know that even one life has breathed easier because she has lived. That, and to have the freedom to work and live from anywhere there’s Wi-Fi.

In a deeply authentic journey of personal transformation, Rachel invites her readers into a poignant personal exploration of boundaries, growth, and self-discovery. Grounded in her own powerful story of learning to release the weight and responsibility for someone else’s journey, Butterfly Goo speaks to anyone who has struggled with the complex ties of family, love, and the journey of finding oneself apart from those who are so close to you. With grace and
vulnerability, this book unveils the profound strength found in setting healthy boundaries, allowing readers to recognize their own power to heal, transform, and embrace freedom on their own terms. This book made it easy to see much of my own journey and helped to sound a rallying cry to keep going.

Butterfly Goo is a truly delightful and insightful read! Rachel’s journey of self-discovery and transformation is both relatable and inspiring. She wove humor and vulnerability throughout her story, making it feel like you’re having a conversation with a close friend. The extended metaphor is incredibly creative and engaging. I especially appreciate Rachel’s honesty about the challenges of resistance and the persistence required to achieve personal growth. It’s a refreshing reminder that transformation is not a destination but an ongoing process. Overall, this
book is a must-read for anyone who is feeling stuck in their own “ordinary world” and yearning for a change. It’s a reminder that we all have the potential for growth and that the journey itself is just as important as the destination.
